My name is Nicholas Benedict. I was born in Holland on May 1, 1963. Life as a kid in Holland was scabrous because both my parents died before I was three and I had no other existing relatives except for my uncle who abided in America, but I couldn’t afford to travel all the way to America. So I was conscripted to dwell on the streets as an orphan for two years. Despite delay, when I reached the age of five I learned of a new orphanage that had just recently opened up, that’s when my real life commenced.
I was always picked on in the orphanage for being so intelligent and knowing such big words. The way I knew such big words was because on cold winter nights I loved to sneak into the library and read for hours on end. Despite that the orphanage had a library it was nothing compared to that of the local library’s vast collection of adventures and knowledge. Life at the orphanage was almost as miserable as life on the streets thieving food just to stay alive, almost. I spent most of my time in the library that no one else but me used, I spent so much time reading in the library that I wore my eyes out and had to get glasses. The orphanage manager only paid for glasses because that way I would sell easier.
Despite all of my misery, it all ended when my dear uncle came and adopted me. He was in my parents will anyway. The journey to America was perilous. We almost met the same fate as the Titanic. Even though the experience of crossing the Atlantic was perturbing it was quite pleasant in America. My uncle was very nice to me and even though he was as strict as a line he never beat me like the orphanage manager used to.
By the age of 17 I was off to college. Now, that might seem a little early but I skipped three grades to get there. I was despised by most of my professors since I was more brilliant than them or I always corrected them when they made a mistake. When I finally got my doctorate at the age of 19, all of the professors were relieved that my departure was soon and I was no longer to attend their classes.
At the age of 33 I learned of an wicked man by the name of Ledroptha Curtain. Quite an odd name in that matter. He was using a machine known as the whisperer to take advantage of people’s minds every where across the globe. He was also looking for world domination. I was so infuriated that I started the Benedict society to stop this sinister man.
I advertised a test that would determine who would prove resourceful against the sinister Mr. Curtain. I had two people to successfully pass the test. Their names were Rolonda and as she is called number two. Years passed until we got an addition to the team. When we drafted him he seemed to have amnesia and called himself Milligan, but he seemed worthy and resourceful enough to join the society. Shortly after establishing the Benedict society I developed a thing called narcolepsy, it’s a disease that makes you fall asleep instantaneously, my dreams are based on my mood. Soon I discovered that plaid shirts make me happy, so I wear plaid shirts.
Despite that I had erected the Benedict society to stop the nefarious Mr. Curtain we had made no attempts to stop him, we just did a plethora of much needed research. I decided it was finally time to put an end to Mr. Curtain’s terror, so I advertised yet another test to find the perfect team of children to put a halt to Mr. curtain. What a team this test had brought into existence of the Benedict society. The four children that made our new line up were Reynie, Kate, Sticky and Constance. I’ve never told anyone this but out of the four, Reynie was my favorite. They stopped the villainous Mr. Curtain, but an odd fact is after their mission Kate found out that Milligan was actually Kate’s long lost father. They had a lot of other adventures as well. So now I sit here writing my extraordinary life into literature as I slowly die in my death bed.

Rewrite of Ending
Epilogue
Beep! Beep! Beep! That was the signal of a new day and for the assigning of a new mission. Reynie and Sticky were both excited for the new mission, yet they decided to stay in bed any way. In fact, everyone was late for breakfast which is where the great assigning was supposed to take place. Instead it took place in Mr. Benedict’s office, which was fine because even though the dining room was more comfortable, Mr. Benedict’s office was more formal. The only kid that wasn’t hyperactive about this little meeting was Constance. Which wasn’t surprising about her considering she was up all night.
“Now that I see that you are all here I can start our mission conference,” Mr. Benedict said in groggy voice. “Your mission is simple, have a good time on your vacations! Although you will have to do some work, I would like you to do some research, and don’t get rusty in field work either. I will also send you a letter two months into your vacation. I hope you enjoy yourselves.” All but Constance’s mouths dropped wide open.
“Wow I can’t wait to tell Miss Perumal the news!” Reynie said with wry grin on his face. Even though Reynie was jovial about his vacation he had no idea that Mr. Benedict would of gave him such a task although it wasn’t really a task. Who would of thought that Mr. Benedict would have given such absurd mission. Reynie thought to himself deeply, he was locked into a deep state in which could not be easily disturbed. There was almost no way to get his attention at all.

Even well into Reynie’s six month vacation he rigorously thought about what Mr. Benedict had said. When he got the letter he finally stopped freaking out and started to have a joyous time on vacation with miss Perumal and her mom. He studied the paper carefully until he memorized every single word. Who knows it, could it could have been useful to him.

“Kate, are you trying that Houdini trick where you swallow a key?”
“ No dad I’m not trying that trick again,” Kate replied. Out of no where a key sputtered out of her mouth on to the floor.
“Kate I told you that maneuver was dangerous and you would kill your self.” Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! “ I’m being called for a mission, bye Kate!” Even though Milligan was wiser than Kate, Kate did not take Milligan’s advice. Miraculously she didn’t choke to death.

Sticky was having a spectacular time with his parents. He had absolutely no worry in the world except for one thing, he was very ill with the flu for a couple weeks. The Washingtons’ vacation was delayed but they still were okay for the time being. Sticky felt sorry that his parents didn’t have as much fun as they could have had. Yet he felt sorry for himself but he could not determine why he was feeling this way. It upset him so much that he didn’t know why he was sorry for himself. He did have a good vacation despite his minor difficulties.
***********************************
There were not many miserable things that Reynie encountered during his vacation, one thing was that Reynie had to walk 30 miles to reach his destination of Kate’s house. He had to endure blisters on his feet because miss Perumal’s car had broken down. As the sunset was slowly waning into night, Reynie noticed a hawk circling above him. Even though he was getting scared to death, he was brave and kept on walking.
